Increase in Water bills

It has been announced this week that April will see a rise in Water bills in order to fund the cost of a multibillion pound upgrade to the current dated infrastructure.

Householders supplied by Southern Water in the areas of Hampshire and Sussex will see the sharpest rise at an average of 8.2%, with Wales at an average of 3.8%.

This rise is yet another blow to struggling householders who have been hit by hard by rising living costs and fuel costs with little or no increase to their annual income, with many seeking help with debts in order to try to stay on top of their finances.

Figures show that there are over 4 million households in arrears with their water company, and the recent announcement suggests that this is likely to rise, with many unable to find the funds to clear existing water debt, let alone fund rises in water bills.
